Launch of Jen Fisher’s “Hope is the Strategy”

On September 26, Livraria Lello welcomed Jen Fisher for the launch of Hope Is the Strategy, a book that explores the future of work through an idea that is as simple as it is transformative: hope can also be learned and put into practice.

Can hope also be a strategy?

This is the question at the heart of Jen Fisher’s Hope Is the Strategy. The author visited Livraria Lello to present her latest book and discuss what happens when we bring hope to the place where we spend much of our lives: our workplace.

When working also means caring

The professional world has undergone a number of significant changes. The pace of work, expectations, ways of collaborating, and even the very idea of what it means to have a career have all changed. But amid all these transformations, one essential question remains: How can we work better without neglecting the well-being of our employees?
It is through this question that Jen Fisher explores, in Hope Is the Strategy, the relationship between hope, leadership, and well-being.

For the author, hope should not be understood as a passive wait for better days. Rather, it is a skill that can help people and organizations face uncertainty, recognize possibilities, and make concrete decisions about the future.
The proposal also involves looking at burnout in a different way. Instead of treating it solely as an individual problem, Jen Fisher explores the need to create work cultures capable of protecting well-being, promoting resilience, and truly putting people at the center.
Because healthier organizations aren’t built solely with new tools or new policies. They’re also built through the way we choose to view the people who bring them to life.

A conversation about the future

The event took place at the Cultural Auditorium and opened with remarks by António Pedro Pinto, Executive Director in Portugal for The Reset / Happiness Camp and Head of Marketing and the Mood Lab at the Lionesa Business Hub. His participation reinforces the partnership between Happiness Camp and Livraria Lello, a collaboration that seeks to create a space for reflection, dialogue, and the sharing of ideas about well-being and the future.

The conversation with Jen Fisher was moderated by Claude Silver, Chief Heart Officer at VaynerX, who brought to the event a perspective focused on the human dimension of organizations and leadership.

More than just a launch, it was an opportunity to reflect together on how we work and how we want to work in the future. This event was part of the complementary program for Happiness Camp, the largest conference dedicated to the world of work and its future, which brought together 15,000 people at Alfândega do Porto on September 24.
