With the special participation of Isabel de Almeida and José Augusto Cardoso Bernardes, Livraria Lello welcomes artist José de Guimarães for the “Em Nome Próprio” series, in an intimate conversation about his artistic and pictorial journey, inspired by his latest publication, Grande Edição Comentada e Ilustrada d’Os Lusíadas, which includes a separate serigraph.
More than simply presenting a book, this series seeks to encounter the artist beyond the pages: their way of seeing the world, the questions that stay with them, the obsessions that drive them to paint, and the personal, intellectual and artistic experiences that enter, transformed, into their work, or that, at times, resist it.
During the event, there will also be musical performances by Rui David, based on a piece of music chosen by José de Guimarães, reinforcing the intimate nature of the event and the idea of a “personal signature” — a final biographical and emotional layer that completes the portrait of the artist on that evening.
