162 years since the acquittal of Camilo Castelo Branco marked with a guided tour by Joel Cleto
October 16th marks the 162nd anniversary of Camilo Castelo Branco's acquittal for the crime of adultery.
In order to celebrate the date, Livraria Lello, in partnership with the Portuguese Photography Center and the Court of Appeal, will organize an itinerary that promises to remember this important period in the author's life.
The event will start at 6pm, in front of there are the steps of the Porto Court of Appeal, where Camilo Castelo Branco's case is. The focus will be on Camilo's sentence for the crime of adultery.
The visit continues, at 6:30 pm, to the Portuguese Photography Center (formerly Cadeia da Recção), where the historian will talk about the relationship between Ana Plácido and Camilo and the writer's arrest.
The last stop will be at Livraria Lello, at 7pm, with a small gathering about one of the greatest classics of Portuguese literature Amor de Perdição.
At the end, participants will be invited to visit the exhibition “O Triângulo de Camilo” open until November 8th, at Livraria Mais Bonita do Mundo.
