Adolfo Mesquita Nunes presents "Algoritmocracia"

‘This book is a political manifesto. Not in the partisan sense, but in the deepest sense of the word: it is a text that aims to convince. It seeks to persuade the reader that AI poses a huge challenge to democracy, and that we cannot ignore it.’

So says the author, Adolfo Mesquita Nunes. Algoritmocracia is both a warning and a manifesto. Artificial Intelligence (AI) already shapes our daily lives: it organises what we see, conditions what we think, influences our choices. It is useful, but it is also changing the political landscape, amplifying populism, radicalising discourse and undermining trust in institutions.

The book explains that shared truth is the starting point for living together and shows how AI is eroding that foundation, changing our relationship with facts and reality. More than a diagnosis, it launches a debate — a debate that we will open here at Livraria Lello.
