Livraria Lello presents ‘Letter to a Decent Young Man’, the new book by Mafalda Anjos

pp
On 28 November, at 9pm, the Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World will present the new book by journalist Mafalda Anjos. Capicua, Sobrinho Simões and João Fernando Ramos, along with the author, will present the book.

‘Letter to a Decent Young Man’ is the latest book by Mafalda Anjos, a work that aims to challenge generations to rethink the values that guide today's society. It is based on the (re)construction of the idea of decency, a premise from which the book starts and which is propagated throughout it, in order to answer questions such as: How do we relate to others? How do we enjoy life and deal with adversity? What are the basic political concepts for thinking for yourself? What are the maxims of a decent person?

With a preface made up of testimonies from 20 Portuguese personalities, including Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Joana Marques and Dino D'Santiago - who shared what they wish they had known at the age of 20 - this is a work that, according to the author, ‘is a very modest contribution to the (re)construction of an idea of decency, thinking above all of young people, but also of parents, grandparents, educators and all those who are interested in public life’.

The event to present the ‘Letter to a Decent Young Person’ in Porto will take place at Livraria Lello on Thursday 28 November at 9pm, in an atmosphere that celebrates critical thinking and inspiring dialogue. Admission is free, but prior registration is required here.
