Fortuna, Caso, Tempo e Sorte - Biografia de Luís Vaz de Camões, by Isabel Rio Novo, will be presented on June 20 at 9pm at the The Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World.
The result of five years' work, which forced the author to delve deeply into all the old and recent biographies, researching known sources and gathering information that was scattered, as well as making trips to Goa and Mozambique, this biographical work on Luís Vaz de Camões combines the great quality of Isabel Rio Novo's writing with her research skills, rigor and the discovery of important information about Camões' life. Fortuna, Caso, Tempo e Sorte is a decisive advance in our knowledge of the man and the poet.
Isabel Rio Novo was born in Oporto in 1972, where she did a master's degree in History of Portuguese Culture - Modern Period and a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the Faculty of Letters of Oporto.
As a fiction writer, she is the author, among other works, of the novels Rio do Esquecimento; A Febre das Almas Sensíveis; Rua de Paris em Dia de Chuva and Madalena. In 2019, she published O Poço e a Estrada, a biography of Agustina Bessa-Luís, and, in 2024, Fortuna, Caso, Tempo e Sorte, a biography of Luís Vaz de Camões.
