Cultural and tourism institutions of porto unite and suspend activities until 3 april
Accompanying the decision by the Municipal Council of Porto, which stipulated the cancellation of all events run by the municipality, as well as the temporary closure of all Municipal Museums and Libraries, the recommendations of the General Directorate of Health and the considerations of the World Health Organisation, and the extraordinary measures approved late yesterday by the Portuguese government as regards the “public health emergency” that we are experiencing, the cultural and tourism institutions of Porto united and decided to suspend their activities as from tomorrow, 14th March and through to 3rd April.
Hence, the House of Music, the Serralves Foundation, Irmandade dos Clérigos, Livraria Lello, Misericórdia do Porto Museum MMIPO, the Futebol Clube do Porto Museum, Palácio da Bolsa, Super Bock Arena – Rosa Mota Pavilion decided to close their doors in a concerted decision to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
As instituições entendem que esta é a decisão mais responsável a tomar no atual contexto, tendo em conta a situação de prevenção e de contenção da propagação do novo coronavírus Covid-19. Uma decisão que coloca em primeiro lugar a cidade, os seus habitantes e seus visitantes, e o território.
These institutions correspondingly understand that this is the most responsible decision to take given the current context taking into account the need for the prevention and containment of the spread of the new Covid-19 coronavirus. A decision that places the city, its inhabitants and visitors, and the surrounding region, as the first and foremost priority.
These institutions shall update the information whenever so justified and in the strictest coordination with the civil and healthcare authorities, the Regional Tourism Entity of Porto and the Norte, the Tourism Association of Porto and the Norte and with the Municipal Council of Porto.
