Italy Day
Italy Day is celebrated on the second of June, which is the date that marks the institutional referendum held in 1946 where the Italian people decided, after the Second World War and the fall of Fascism, to vote for choosing the country's form of government.
To honor all Italian visitors, Livraria Lello is dedicating June 2nd to the culture and literature of this country. The doors of the bookshop will be opened on this day by the Honorary Consul of Italy in Porto, Dr. Paolo Pozzan, followed by a poetry reading by Pier Paolo Pasolini (whose hundredth birthday is being celebrated this year). There will also be no shortage of Italian literature in the spotlight throughout the day, at the Bookshop and on the digital channels.
