Livraria Lello celebrates rentrée with the return of Posfácio das Carmelitas
In the month of rentrée, Livraria Lello is bringing new books and writers back to Rua das Carmelitas for another edition of Posfácio das Carmelitas.
Norma Pott is the author invited by Livraria Lello for the first session of the event, which will take place this Saturday, 9 September, on the pavement of Rua das Carmelitas, in front of the bookshop, at 17h00.
With the start of the school year in mind, we invite readers, parents, children, educators, everyone of all ages to attend and take part in a conversation about "literature" and "childhood".
Norma Pott is the author of O menino guardador de folhas and will be performing, exclusively for this event, in an unusual performance and musical dialogue with Paula Carvalhal, Councillor for Culture at Gaia City Council, accompanied by the children of TECLARTE - Musical Academy.
Curated by Maria Bochicchio, the next Saturdays will bring books, authors, music, and readings, to Rua das Carmelitas.
Norma Pott
Born in Coimbra in 1969, Norma Pott has a degree in education and a master's and doctorate in educational sciences. She has worked for the Municipality of Porto for 29 years, having worked in the Education, Environment and Culture departments. She is currently a member of the Municipal Museums Division.
After her book of essays, Ironia Circular, Norma Pott decided to write a book for children. In 2023, she launched O menino guardador de folhas, a book centered on ethical issues, sustainability, and the promotion of ecosystems.
A bench and a book in Porto
After the huge success of the first edition in 2020, and the second edition in June 2023, which featured authors such as Valter Hugo Mãe and Bruno Paixão, The Most Beautyful Bookshop in The World is resuming this initiative, which aims to spread culture to everyone, making it more accessible.
Under the title "A bench and a book in Porto", Posfácio das Carmelitas - Rentrée is based on a performative conversation with a guest author, who will be accompanied by musicians and a collective of declaimers.
The choice of a pedestrianized street in Porto as the venue for the event brings the city closer to literature and a heterogeneous group of authors, as well as meeting readers, aspiring writers, visitors to cultural events and even passers-by.
