On the 13th of January, Livraria Lello celebrated not only its 117th anniversary but also a new step towards a more conscious and sustainable future, with the attribution of the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury.

The growing concern with the business ecosystem and with the local, national and international community is one of the examples of the actions that Livraria Lello puts into practice every day.

Since 2015, with the entry of the Pedro Pinto family administration, Livraria Lello started on a path towards the sustainability of the business, passing on the message that bookstores need to invest in culture and be innovative to prosper.

This new approach, of art and books, redefined culture as a new form of luxury and guided Livraria Lello towards the area of sustainability – environmental, economic, social and cultural – which allowed that, on the 117th anniversary of Livraria Lello, it was awarded the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury.

Livraria Lello thus became the first brand in Portugal, and the first brand in the world in the cultural area, to have this seal, joining a restricted group of just over 100 brands that achieved it.
