Face the future with confidence. It is exactly with a huge thirst for the future that Livraria Lello opens again today, at 10:30 am, offering free entry. After having closed its doors two days after the celebrations of its 115th anniversary, Livraria Lello is now reopening as an essential actor in the deconfinement planned by the government and health authorities that honors the also essential good that gives it reason and being: the book.

As on the anniversary day, Livraria Lello will open with free admission for all readers, a way to contribute to the rebirth of trust, in addition to being proof that “a future for bookstores” is not only necessary, how it is possible and can and deserves to succeed.

Two months after the lockdown that dictated the closure of all Portuguese bookshops, Livraria Lello is preparing to reopen the doors of a house that, according to the president of the Board of Directors, Aurora Pedro Pinto, “belongs to books, readers and authors ”. “We have always argued that books should be seen as essential goods. We are prepared and very happy to open the doors again to our readers and friends ”, she welcomes.

In compliance with all DGS health safety standards, Livraria Lello believes that books play a very important role in the mental health and quality of life of the entire population, helping them to remain mentally healthy and civically awake, through the stories that count and the trips they allow to make, imagined or real.

It is in light of this mission, and in an act of financially costly courage compensated by the public service that it also assumes, that Livraria Lello opens its doors, today, with the opening hours between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm and between 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm.
