Livraria Lello welcomes Pilar del Río
On the 15th of April, Livraria Lello will welcome, at 7:30 pm, the writer Pilar del Río. In conversation with the journalist Marta Curado, Pilar will make a presentation of her most recent book, “The island's intuition”.
María del Pilar del Río Sánchez was born on March 15, 1950, in Seville, Spain. Journalist, writer and translator, she is currently chairing the José Saramago Foundation.
In 1986, Pilar met the Portuguese writer José Saramago after reading all his books, published in Spanish, and asked to meet him in person. This date with the only Portuguese Nobel Prize resulted in an incredible love story between the writers. They got married two years later, in 1988, and decided to live in Lisbon, moving in 1992 to the Spanish island of Lanzarote.
The book "The island's intuition" is a description of José Saramago's experience in the Canary Islands. It shares emotions, moments, meetings with friends, and books written under the light of the island. It is a portrait of the atmosphere inside the couple's house.
The entrance is free, upon prior registration, with limited capacity. It will also be possible to watch the event via livestreaming, on Livraria Lello's Facebook page.
