MONTH AUTOR | ANTÓNIO LOBO ANTUNES
Livraria Lello has the honour of opening its 2020 Author of the Month programming with one of the most renowned names in Portuguese literature. António Lobo Antunes appears at Livraria Lello on 15 February to converse with João Luís Barreto Guimarães, the Porto poet and plastic surgeon, about his works and literary career that now stretches back over four decades. At the end, there is an autograph session.
The author of Memória de Elefante and O Cus de Judas thus makes his return to Porto, a city that he has not visited for some years.
António Lobo Antunes has a vast portfolio of published novels and five volumes that bring together the opinion articles published weekly in Visão magazine. It was for his literary works that he has picked up various awards, including the Camões Prize in 2007, considered the most prestigious honour in Portuguese literature. In addition to his highly successful literary activities, he graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon before being called up as a military doctor and serving in the colonial war in eastern Angola between 1971 and 1973. He then specialised in Psychiatry.
