This Thursday, March 27th, at 9 PM, Livraria Lello hosts the launch of Em Nome Próprio, a new literary series that brings readers closer to great authors. The first guest is Teolinda Gersão, in conversation with Júlio Machado Vaz, for an in-depth discussion of her most recent work. Free entry upon prior registration.
More than just a series of conversations, Em Nome Próprio offers a space where literature, identity, and thought converge. Each session invites an author to reflect on the paths that shaped their writing, revealing the invisible layers that lie beyond the page.
Teolinda Gersão, one of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary Portuguese literature, opens the series with a conversation centred on her latest book, Autobiografia não escrita de Martha Freud (Porto Editora, 2024), alongside psychiatrist and university professor Júlio Machado Vaz.
Topics such as the role of women in society, memory, fiction, and the silences of history will guide this conversation — a rare opportunity to hear the author’s perspective and revisit her work in light of today’s challenges.
“A writer is more than the name signed on the cover of a book. There are invisible layers that shape their voice — inner restlessness that becomes narrative. We believe these conversations will offer new perspectives on literature and on life,” says Aurora Pedro Pinto, Board Member of Livraria Lello.
