Vivid Voices

This is a place that expands the Livraria Lello's vivid voice as a cultural actor, hosting book presentations, gatherings and exhibitions.

Currently, the room is taken over by with an installation by the R2 Design collective. "X Cantos" travels, through words, the ten cantos of the Lusíadas. This intervention is a prelude to the journey that Livraria Lello challenged the writer Afonso Reis Cabral to make along the paths travelled by Camões, armed with blank pages to be filled with 1102 stanzas, written at each stop whether by government officials, writers, painters, well-known or anonymous personalities.

Until 2018, this space, which fills the basement was closed after long usage as a warehouse. As a result of its former occupation, deep marks were inscribed on the floor from the weight of the bookshelves, which we have retained as historical testimony.
