Four years (1591-1595) was the time taken to write of the fatal passion between the young lovers of the Montague and Capulet households. Over four centuries later and humanity insists on seeing in this story all of the love affairs, however infeasible and improbable, as if always for the first time ever, that succumbed or flourished despite the adversities prevailing. The more cynical might say that this stems from all of the adversities encountered. Featuring among the first of the Shakespearian creations, we find in this work proof of how tragedy and comedy may coexist with the finest grandeur of art that, after all, is always greater than life itself.
